"A classic washed Ethiopian is a favourite at CiC and this fresh harvest Arsosala is all you need. We've purchased this delicious coff numerous times before"

Arsosala washing station, established in 2015, supports around 1,200 smallholder farmers in Uraga, Guji. Farmers deliver ripe coffee cherries, which are processed the same day—fermented overnight, washed, and dried on raised beds. Depending on the weather, drying takes 8–15 days in the sun or 15–20 days during cloudy conditions.

In Ethiopia, coffee is typically grown on small plots alongside other crops. Farmers deliver their cherries to local washing stations, where the coffee is sorted, weighed, and processed, usually using washed or natural methods. These stations often serve hundreds or even thousands of producers, blending cherries into day lots, which makes tracing coffee back to individual farmers challenging. Despite this, efforts are made to source coffee from the same trusted washing stations each year.

Farmers in this region usually don’t use fertilizers or pesticides, ensuring the coffee is naturally and sustainably grown.
